What are wax bullets? Wax bullets are exactly what they sound like - a bullet made of a wax compound. They may be used for Fast Draw competition, or simply as an inexpensive and easy way to practice with your single or double action revolver.
For pistol practice, many people simply use normal shells with regular pistol primers. These make for great close-range shooting practice.
If you are competing in Fast Draw, practicing Cowboy Action Shooting or simply training with your revolver, C&R Wax Bullets are an inexpensive and simple way to go.

1. How do you load a wax bullet?
Simply push the wax bullet into the case mouth with finger pressure or you may use our "Silver Press" loader.
Flush with the case mouth is adequate. Counter sinking with a loader will increase velocity slightly for .45
For .38 and .44 caliber, flush with the case mouth is recommended. #209 primer cases are designed for the
primers to drop in and fall out without the use of tools.
2. The primer backs out and jams the gun - How do I stop this?
We recommend Rio, Fiocchi, Noble Sport, Cheddite or Wolfe primers for use with our wax bullets and cases. Most other primers have a domed primer button and often crater enough to bind between the cylinder and the frame of your revolver.
3. You list .38 special/357 magnum and .44 special/44 magnum on the website. How do I know what to order?
The wax bullet fits either "special " or "magnum" cartridges. The difference is in the shell casing itself. The
magnum shell is a little longer than the specials. Either will work for the magnum caliber but only the special
case will work in a .38 or .44 "special" caliber.
4. At what distance can a wax bullet be used and still remain accurate?
Our wax can be shot with a 209 shotgun primer and remain accurate up to 30 feet.
5. How often do I clean the gun?
I recommend cleaning the gun after shooting a maximum of 25 rounds. I include cleaning instructions in each
order for our wax.
6. How loud are 209 primers with wax bullets?
Approximately the same as a .22 rimfire.
7. Will these wax bullets work in a semi-automatic?
No they will not function properly in a semi-automatic. There is no recoil to activate the slide action. Wax bullets
are designed for use in a revolver.
8. Can I use powder with a wax bullet? If so, how much?
Yes, in a modified standard case with pistol primer only. We recommend 2.5 - 3 grains of Hodgedon 777.
Note: The case flash hole must be drilled out to 1/8" to avoid primer back out.
9. At what velocity does a pistol primer or 209 shotgun primer push the .45 caliber wax bullet?
A large pistol primer will push a .45 caliber wax bullet at approximately 450 feet per second and a 209 shotgun
primer will push it at approximately 700 feet per second.
10. Can I shoot wax bullets indoors?
All primers contain a small amount of lead. Use only in a well ventilated area, preferably outside. Lead residue
will settle and accumulate on all surfaces when shot indoors.
